Karen Davis’s photographs are featured at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), the Boston Drawing Project/Carroll and Sons Gallery, the Clark Gallery, Lincoln, MA and in the collections of the Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW) at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, Lishui Museum of Photography (China) and the Houghton Rare Books Library, Harvard University.
A recipient of the 2009 Artists Fellowship Award from the CPW, and 2011 New York Foundation for the Arts’ (NYFA) MARK artist – recent exhibits include the Lishui International Photography Festival, China, the Bromfield Gallery, Boston, MA and the Griffin Museum of Photography. She was the featured artist in the 2006 inaugural issue of The Women’s Review of Books and in 2005, three of her photographs were exhibited in “hrlm: pictures” at the Studio Museum in Harlem.
Davis, of Hudson NY, presents her work in formats including exhibition, book, and multi-media, including her website: YesThatKarenDavis.com. She presently teaches photo-based and word-image courses at the Griffin Museum of Photography and in Hudson (TBA). She has taught in the Seminar Series in the Arts, Art Institute of Boston/Lesley University, Lesley Seminars, Radcliffe Seminars – Harvard, Tufts University’s X-College and Suffolk University.
Along with her husband, Mark Orton, she co-teaches a workshop on websites for artists. She and Orton are co-directors of the Davis Orton Gallery, 114 Warren Street, Hudson NY.
