Bio Karen Davis’s work is featured at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) and in the collections of the Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW) at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art; Lishui Museum of Photography (China); the Houghton Rare Books Library, Harvard University and in corporate and private collections. Davis, of Hudson NY, presents her work in formats including exhibition, photobook, artist book and mixed-media.  She is the recipient of the 2009 Artists Fellowship Award from the CPW and a 2011 New York Foundation for the Arts' (NYFA) MARK artist. Recent solo and featured exhibits include: Homegrown, CPW; Unframed, NOBO Gallery, Hudson NY; PHOTO[gogues]2, Flash Forward, Boston MA; Family, Cabane Gallery, Phoenicia NY; and The McCann Family, the Griffin Museum of Photography. Her photographs were also included in “hrlm: pictures” at the Studio Museum in Harlem. She teaches portfolio development and marketing for fine arts photographers at the Griffin Museum of Photography, NYU and the Davis Orton Gallery in Hudson NY.  She has taught photo-based and word and image art  in the Seminar Series in the Arts, Art Institute of Boston/Lesley University, Lesley Seminars, Radcliffe Seminars/Harvard, Tufts University’s X-College and Suffolk University. Karen and her husband, Mark Orton are co-directors of the Davis Orton Gallery, 114 Warren Street, Hudson NY where she curates exhibitions of photography, mixed media and photobooks, and Davis Orton Editions, an online store for small format fine art photography by a curated list of artists. She has been an invited portfolio reviewer for FotoFest in Houston TX, Photolucida in Portland OR, the Griffin Museum and Critical Mass, Photolucida's annual online competition. Artist Resume
