For one delicious moment the boat hung suspended, inches from its goal.  Then, gently, Scherherazade was deposited into the water. The slings were loosened and the boat floated free. On board, the people who built broke out in cheers. The crew then hoisted the boat out of the water and positioned it on a ceremonial cradle for the next day's official launch.
